Grateful!
Dear New City,
I am grateful to the Session and the membership of New City for allowing me to take a three month sabbatical this summer. The Lord blessed me and Sherry with a refreshing time away - mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I actually lost a few pounds. If I can keep an exercise routine (and maybe resist Bluebell ice cream), I might be able to keep them off!
We enjoyed visiting six different Presbyterian sister churches over the summer, a couple of them being New City Fellowship daughter churches. It’s always a blessing to worship with other churches who are often quite different from our own, but with the same faithful commitment to the importance of Lord’s Day worship, the centrality of God‘s word and the sacraments.
One of the best things about this sabbatical was that we lived in St. Louis for the summer and got to see two of our adult kids and our two grandkids every week. With grandson number two born this summer, (named after his grandpa) we are bona fide grandparents with all the joys that come with that.
