Dear New City Family,

We give God thanks for a good service this past Sunday in our fellowship hall as we make adjustments for the sanctuary repairs. We have received helpful feedback from members on Sunday’s service on how to make it better. If you have not responded, you can access it [**HERE**](https://newcitychattanooga.churchcenter.com/people/forms/1333748) until October 6th.
**Work in the sanctuary** began last week but was stopped on Monday of this week due to concerns from the structural engineer about continued settling of the building toward the 3rd Street end. Pastor Kevin along with a few elders and a deacon met with the contractor and engineer to gather more details and discuss a plan of action. Before work continues, they want to try to determine what is causing the settling. So, the next step is to bring in a geotechnical / soil engineering firm that will analyze the physical properties of the soil and bedrock and make foundation recommendations.
We have contacted our agent who is filing a claim with our insurance company to determine if this damage is covered under our current liability policy. Our finance committee has also begun researching various financing options.

For right now, out of an abundance of caution, it is recommended that we not use the playground or the fenced-in play area on the opposite side of the sanctuary.
**Please continue to pray** for our Sunday School and worship services each week, for continued wisdom for the elders and deacons, for safety for the workers, and for the Lord’s provision for New City. May the Lord turn this obstacle into an opportunity for us to trust our heavenly father more and find greater hope and gospel renewal.
Held in love,
Billy McKillop
Executive Pastor
