NCF Members raising support for Kingdom Mission in October

We are looking forward to a New City disaster relief team serving again in October bringing grace and mercy to brothers and sisters who have been left without shelter after Hurricane Melissa last year. NCF members Carl King and Demarcus Chapman are seeking prayer and financial support to be able to join this ministry team. See below more info from each of these men.

Demarcus Chapman

Dear Friends,
In March I traveled with a team from New City and First Presbyterian to Black River in St. Elizabeth Parish as part of a mercy and work trip focused on rebuilding after Hurricane Melissa. I remember working on Mrs. Samms’ roof, a widow in the community whose husband was a faithful deacon for many years at Vineyard Baptist Church. I remember the blessing of working alongside other team members and local Jamaican men as we served them. This was my first mission trip, and I found there wasn't just work to be done; there were people to be known. That trip changed me. I came home different than I left, and I haven't stopped thinking about Black River since. Now I have the chance to go back, and I want to. From October 10-17, I'll be serving again with Pastor Billy McKillop and Jamaica pastors Sylvan James and Duane Henry in St. Elizabeth, continuing the work rebuilding homes, repairing roofs, encouraging the pastors and community members as they seek to share the gospel in practical ways.

Here's how you can help:
● Pray — for safety, for open hands and hearts to the gospel, for the people we'll serve with words of encouragement and deeds of mercy, and for continued recovery for those who have suffered the loss of their homes.

● Give — my trip costs $1,000 plus airfare (approximately $600 roundtrip). The $1,000 covers ground transportation, food and lodging, and project costs. I need to raise this by August 31st.

● Send me off with encouragement — a note, a text, a verse. It matters more than you would think.

To give, you can write a check to New City Fellowship with "Jamaica relief - Demarcus Chapman" in the memo or you can use the GIVE button below (please be sure to add a note that this is for Demarcus Chapman).
Sincerely,

Demarcus Chapman

Dear Friends and Family,

I’m Carl King, that guy with a camera. I am an experienced digital storyteller. I’m also that guy who enjoys fixing things. While I often do it out of necessity, being a fixer is also my family legacy. My dad worked hard for 37 years maintaining oil refineries while also serving as our neighborhood mechanic. Similarly, in the late 1890s, when Minnesota built its new State Capitol, they recruited skilled artisans from Georgia to finish the job. One of those stonemasons was my great grandfather.

Now, I have the opportunity to continue that fixing legacy in Jamaica. Last October, Hurricane Melissa devastated the island. Though nine months have passed, many families remain displaced. From October 10th–17th, I am joining a disaster relief team with my church, New City Fellowship (NCF). We will be rebuilding several homes, including the home of a local pastor whose house was severely damaged by the storm.

In addition to building, I will document our mission through video to capture and share these stories of hope, faith, and restoration.

To make this trip possible, I am seeking $1,500 to cover travel, lodging, and mission expenses. Will you partner with me through a financial gift of any amount? Every contribution directly supports this vital work.

You can write a check to New City Fellowship with "Jamaica relief - Carl King" in the memo or you can use the GIVE button below (please be sure to add a memo that this is for Carl King).

Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and support. Together, may we bring glory to the name of Jesus.

Thank you in advance for your generous support.

Carl King,

Guy with a Camera
